Introducing S.B. Ryazakhov

S.B. Ryazakhov has been telling stories ever since she could hold a pen and scribble symbols on a piece of paper. She has degrees in both English literature and the Great Books Tradition.

While her writing genre of choice is fantasy romance (also known as romantasy), she believes that research is a key part of her storytelling. S.B. studied Gàidhlig, the Mabinogion, Rumpelstiltskin stories across culture, Scottish myths, Irish myths, and the works of W.B. Yeats to create The Fabric of the Realm.

Readers have praised her authentic Fae and attention to the nuances of language in her debut novel.

S.B. is currently working on a short work about literary analysis of poetry and lyrics, as well as the sequel to The Fabric of the Realm and a standalone fantasy romance set in a Victorian England-adjacent world, with inspiration from The Picture of Dorian Gray.

FAQs for S.B.

  • While teaching a summer intensive, I covered fairy tales. I really pondered the Rumpelstiltskin fairytale, and what would lead him to make that bargain. It seems risky, with potential loss of reward.

I worked on The Fabric of the Realm for five years, doing significant research along the way.

  • Soon, you will be able to buy books directly from my website here. While we wait for that to get squared away, you can find them on Amazon and Barnes and Noble.

  • I am working on Exile and Elation (working title), a standalone set in a Victorian England-adjacent world, where people with magic are in hiding. I am in the process of researching firsthand accounts of what street life was like, as well as everything from Victorian vocabulary to style.

I am also working on the sequel to The Fabric of the Realm, titled The Dance of the Realm.

Lastly, I am hopeful in the next few months that I will be publishing a small nonfiction book about literary analysis of poetry and lyrics. It is inspired by a series I’ve done on TikTok analyzing Sleep Token lyrics.
